I find it telling that every reason people try to give why "you'll regret having kids" is just selfish.
"Who will take care of YOU when you're older?" "Don't YOU want people to always be in YOUR life?" "YOU won't know love until YOU have a child." "Don't YOU want your bloodline to survive?" "Don't YOU want purpose in your life?"
Oh don’t forget the “you’ll die alone” guilt trip.

Not sure I get your point. We are talking about a decision about YOU so of course it will revolve around YOU.
Imo bringing another life into this world should be as selfless as possible. Not that you want "an extra pair of hands around the house" or "you want to pass on your genes". But more like "I have the ability to create the most precious thing in this world and I want it to have a life better than my own". You know?
Believe it or not sometimes people make decisions for the good of other people!
