Seriously? You have never heard anybody complain about the yellow ranger being the Asian power ranger?
Edit: As a Native American who has been part of the campaign to remove things like “Redmen” and “Redskins” as mascots it pains me to see people not understand yellow and its history. But here is a source since you asked for it.

Of course I've heard people using the term yellow in reference to Asian people, but neither of those sources mention cowardice. Calling someone yellow, as in a coward, does not stem from the Asian slur.
It’s okay to call somebody “a retard” as long as you mean fire retardant right?
For real, we changed the name of the branch from master to main for this same reason.
It’s not okay to call somebody yellow even if you mean yellow belly because you don’t know what that person has been through.
Neither of those sources say yellow-bellied is a reference to any kind of Asian person.
