some person that makes people on social media lose their minds because they project their weird shit onto her for doing ads that feature her tits and ass.

i have no idea like why she is famous beyond this. is she a singer? she seems to be compared to singers a lot.

I could go learn about Sydney Sweeney, while I’m available and in the queue for calls at my job, or I could just keep reading There is No Antimemetics Division, until I get interrupted by some doctor needing their outlook fixed.

Like, the question isn’t even bout five hundred grand anymore, it’s about literally anything to do with this lady, versus my personal “hat/book against work” inertia.

I have so many feelings about how that book ended, but no actual words. Hope you enjoy it!

The Antimimetics thing. It got published as a book.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh yeah! I’m reading it, but I can’t really remember what part I’m on.

Which version are you reading? The scp wiki, the self published, or the just released trad novel?

There's 3 versions of the book, I listed them in previous message. Just wondering which one you're reading.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh yeah! We all agreed there was no audiobook!

[–] undecidedyellow@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I feel like this is top-tier trolling

Have you read the updated version yet? Wondering if it's different enough to be worth it.

[–] undecidedyellow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

There's an updated version of the book? I'm not sure which version I read... In that I didn't actually read it. I listened to the audiobook.

A quick Google would take less time than typing that comment, why're you pretending you're too busy reading to know XD

[–] 24_at_the_withers@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Some people like making conversation and being personable on - gasp- social media. And then there's you.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Also I just got a call from a Dr. Sweeney about needing something fixed, but he’s a guy, so now the entire proposition gets just a touch weirder, another line of terms and conditions apply. View mode, compact, reading pane on the right, never pick single unless it’s Sydney Sweeney asking.

I have no idea why she is famous

IMDB says she was in some American Eagle ads.

[–] cokeslutgarbage@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 month ago (3 children)

She's an actress , she was in The Handmaid's Tale, Euphoria, and White Lotus recently-ish. She's also done some movies but I don't know about that. She's became famous very fast and was in those three hugely popular TV series.

TBH, you all come across as incredibly pretentious and ingenuine by pretending not to even know who she is. You've certainly heard her name on social media. She's frequently the subject of posts on even Lemmy, so if you're on any other social media you DEFINITELY have heard of her, but even here on this island you've encountered subject matter about her.

She's also done some advertisements for pants and soap that come across as MAGA dog whistles, and she has done nothing to contradict being a racist, so that's why people are mad at her.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I’m not really in-tune with American culture on the whole, and forming identities around people is hard for me as a double stroke victim. I’m also not on social media, and don’t really pay attention too hard.

I also still haven’t looked up who she is, cause I just don’t care that much.

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I'm not pretending. But keep making your assumptions? Jesus.

Not everyone follows pop culture, and that doesn't make them automatically an asshole. This is the first time I've ever seen her referenced on lemmy and I've been here 3 years.

You clearly follow pop culture. Do you follow professional mountain bike racing? Do you know who Tom Pidcock is? Wow, you don't! You're so pretentious and ingenue! How dare you pretend to not know who a famous mountain bike racer is! You've certain heard his name!

You mean some idiot people think she's done that. All I see is a hot girl using her body to sell sports gambling to men. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, it's not a phallic symbol of right wing oppression or whatever you seem to think it must be.

[–] oatscoop@midwest.social 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

You're on the fediverse. If ever there was a group of people who don't consume a lot of mainstream pop culture and don't follow celebrities this is the place they hang out.

I legitimately didn't know who she is apart from being vaguely aware of the jean ad. She's not involved in anything I'm interested in, and clearly I'm not alone.
