Also look up the time Wisconsin and Michigan had a border dispute that resulted in an armed conflict in the UP. I think thats what it was at least, I think I learned about it on the Lions Led By Donkies pod.
"Toledo War" between Ohio and Michigan. Sole casualty was made by an Ohioan named Two Stickney

there were also armed conflicted between texas and new mexico when the texans tried to assert their authority between texas' first attempt at independence in 1833 and before annexation into the united states.
the texans sent judges and other magistrates to new mexico and the governor of new mexico had armed posses round them up and jail them before sending them to mexico city for treason.
