Yeah this is wild to me. Also if there are any laws ignorance should be a defense of it's esoteric state conflict bullshit.
I'd like to see the full judgement but I do wonder if this will be knocked back on appeal.
The idea that doing a job badly/scamming some people becomes some federal offense because you "should have known" they were spies (also lol, who fucking cares if it's public info. Spy on lmao) is concerning.
Also:
Makes my skin crawl. Stringing someone up to "send a message" is the antithesis of justice, which should only be concerned with restittuion for the harmful acts of the accused and their reformation.
