The iPhone mini dying for this is a terrible trade off. Maybe after this gimmick fails they’ll try the mini again
The iPhone Mini didn’t die for this. The last iPhone Mini was five years ago.
The iPhone Mini died because it had terrible sales numbers. It was clear that what more people wanted was a cheaper big iPhone. Hence the 3rd Gen SE and the iPhone 14 Plus.
I agree that it’s sad. The iPhone Mini was awesome and adorable. But it just didn’t sell well, unfortunately.
But the iPhone mini is what I want darn it. Considering the SE and Plus lines are also dead, I’m not sure they were what the people wanted either. But I suppose Apple is just throwing gimmicks phones at the wall to see what sticks.
I definitely don’t want this and it’s hard for me to see how this is any more useful than just having an iPad or a laptop in a bag a long side your phone.
I feel you, and that does suck. Like I said, loved the Mini.
I mentioned it in another comment, and I know it’s even more niche than the iPhone Mini, but I love the idea of having forScore with me in a form factor that is actually useful for sheet music at all times. I sing off of an iPad, but the number of times I’ve wanted my sheet music but not had my iPad with me is surprisingly high. I can bring up forScore on the iPhone, but the screen is a terrible size for sheet music.
Obviously for that use case, as others, the iPad is better because it’s bigger. But my iPad doesn’t fit in my pocket and I don’t carry a bag everywhere.
I don’t think this form factor will be useful or desirable for everyone, but I think I would really love it. Don’t know if I’ll jump on the Gen 1, but it’s tempting.
Yeah i'm nursing my 13 mini along as long as I can, RIP reasonably-sized phones
My iPhone SE is at 68% battery life and 6yrs old. This may the closest we get to a smaller phone. I will likely wait until next year and hopefully buy the version 1 cheaper.
My wife got a new-in-box third-gen SE last year and now we're both just dreading having to replace these things
Oh so lucky. I bought two refurbished SEs snd had to send them back. I gave up. Hold onto it!
