Not surprising. The new powerful countries are China, Iran, and Russia. The west failed to protect Ukraine. The west cares mainly of funding Israel's genocide of Palestinians.

The #1 protector of Ukraine was remaining a neutral buffer state, as Ukraine had declared it would do as part of the settlement ending the USSR. There is no protecting a Ukraine that declares it wants to join NATO and to host nukes stationed within five minutes of Moscow.
