Thornton’s attorney, Allison Hart, has strongly denied that her client engaged in any illegal activity and offered an explanation for why he was in the chatroom.

Hart told TMZ that Thornton became involved in suicide prevention advocacy after losing a close family member to suicide two years ago and had spent time in online forums supporting people experiencing suicidal thoughts.

According to his attorney, Thornton regularly visited the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline website, but was sent a wrong link and ended up in a chatroom for people with thoughts of pedophilia.

Yeah that explains why the guy talking about being on a plane (presumably him) is talking about how bold it is of him and how it's his middle finger to do it in public. Because everyone is so ashamed of chatting to suicidal people on IRC right?

I don't get why someone would do this. Was it a power thing? Flexing on people? Well he just found out he didn't have the power to do this and keep his job. He can probably keep doing this on planes if he wants since it isn't illegal but he'll have to do it without his well paying job.
