It's your bosses obligation to make sure there are enough people to cover the shifts not yours, if you except being exploited or even defend it than yes you are holding up everyone else.
No it's not. I'm in charge of 30 people in a place that has close to a hundred employees. It's my department. I am the one that makes those choices. However I do not make their union contract and I do not do anything other than adhere to what their CBA holds them to. I have only terminated one person for attendance in my time of 5 years. The rest of been neglence of safety on the employee.
If it's your choice than employ enough people that some else can jump in if someone is sick or takes a vacation everything else is just bad management.
I do. It's not my department we are discussing.
