What point?
waybardepends on gtk-layer-shell/gtk3.ironbardepends on gtk4-layer-shell, which is disappointing since it's implemented in Rust.If there is an option that doesn't incur a GTK or QT dependency, I would like to know about it.
i3bar
Not wayland. With x11, you have many options.
Of course waybar is for Wayland, but maybe Wayland isn't the best choice
Lots of options in https://github.com/rcalixte/awesome-wayland#widgets-bars-panels-etc though you kinda have to guess if they use GTK or not.
There's https://github.com/greshake/i3status-rust for example?
No tray support or other basic features. Just shows piped output from custom commands, from what I can tell.
Checked out a few other "minimalist" options from the list, and they are similar.
I'm looking for something that has a tray, and supports showing toplevels and workspaces without relying on compositor-specific IPC mechanisms. Something that can replace what comes built-in with Awesome.
