This is a coffee community, not an espresso community. Here's my evil drip brew machine and morning abomination (lemmy.world)

I like espressos (especially mochas) but they take a bit of work to prepare a single cup. With drip brew, I can do very little and get unhealthy amounts of caffeination into my corpse. Also, I pour ungodly amounts of creamer into my coffee. That Mason jar is quite literally half coffee half creamer.

More accurately, it's a coffee snob community, since only single origin is tolerated and preground enjoyers are dissed.

In fact, this is such a common occurrence that the FDA has an “acceptable” level of bug parts in ground coffee and other foods. For coffee, it sits between 4–6%.

The quotes around the word acceptable are doing a lot of work there.

It's the same everywhere. Literally 0% contamination is impossible to guarantee or test for so every country has "maximum acceptable levels" for stuff like insect parts, mouse hair, etc.
