I think this is a neat idea from a strategizing perspective, but it would also invalidate the whole progression system that I'm attempting to set up with the vault. Players could, for instance, hold onto a secondary weapon or armor that they were otherwise going to sell, and use that to effectively skip past having to avoid prison and caves tier enemies.
The vault is set up such that you really don't have to fight anything unless you choose to after powering up. There are lots of ways to evade or escape from enemies, and you even get two 'panic button' teleports specifically to give you a second and third chance if you really truly get caught in a bad situation.
