Well, again, God can't be created as then he wouldn't be God

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Same with jod. Also, jod created god.

Since we're all just making shit up here. You haven't proven anything you are saying. My baseless claims are just as valid as yours.

You better not disrespect jod. You don't want to go to turbohell, do you?

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This would require God to be created, which is a logical contradiction

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No, it's not logical to believe that god exists at all.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wrong question. You are the one making the positive claim that god exists.

Why should anyone believe that?

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

one of the.multiple reasons is the principle of sufficient reason

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

But that's human bullshit.

We don't know that everything needs a cause.

We don't know that infinite regress is impossible.

And if everything needs a cause, so does god.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

God exists on a completely different plane than we do, his cause is himself as to be God, you need to be perfect and rely only on yourself.

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

God exists on a completely different plane than we do

Special pleading. God seemingly only exists in human heads, he's imaginary.

his cause is himself as to be God, you need to be perfect

"Perfect" is human bullshit. Would you like to define "perfect" as you're using it here? Have we ever observed anything perfect?

and rely only on yourself.

Like the universe itself seems to do, no god required.

You keep repeating the same fallacies: god of the gaps and special pleading. Philosophy is not evidence. Philosophy is "if what I'm saying is true, then what I'm saying is true." But there is no evidence verifying the premise or the conclusion. Anyone can make shit up, it's not impressive.

You claim god exists with no evidence, specifically citing the unproven idea that everything must have a cause. Oops, right, everything except god, because he's special. What's stopping me from claiming god was created by Jod? Why don't you believe every unproven claim ever made? Do you believe in unicorns? Leprechauns? Fairies? If not, why not?

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

God cannot have a start nor an end. The universe has a start (the big bang) and an end (heat death). The universe does not rely completely on itself

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

God cannot have a start nor an end.

But you yourself said everything requires a cause. So god also requires a cause.

The universe does not rely completely on itself

You don't know that.

And again, what's stopping me from defining Jod as the creator of god? I have exactly as much evidence as you do: none.

You cannot define god into existence.

Give me an actual reason to believe in him.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The universe relies on the big bang

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago

Not necessarily. The universe may have led to the big bang via a process we do not yet understand.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

"Perfect" is depending and relying only on yourself

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Like literally everything in existence does?

What do you mean?

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

If earth blew up right now, would you be alive? You probably depend on the earth

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago

No, but you're conflating my consciousness with the particles that I consist of. My baryons would still exist, yes.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Denying the principle of sufficient reason would mean that you do not have a sufficient reason to know whether your knowledge is defunct or not. Thus, if we deny the principle of sufficient reason, knowledge and truth cannot exist

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

you do not have a sufficient reason to know whether your knowledge is defunct or not.

No, we use evidence. Observable evidence. "I think gravity exists." We experiment. We demonstrate it. We can use it to make predictions. It goes from hypothesis to knowledge even if we don't completely understand the underlying mechanics of it.

Thus, if we deny the principle of sufficient reason, knowledge and truth cannot exist

What a stupid thing to claim. I reject the PSR because there is no evidence for it. None of my other knowledge magically disappears as a result. If there was no truth, we would not be conversing right now.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You cannot hold the belief that your knowledge is valid or invalid as you lack sufficient reason to hold it.

If you deny the principle of sufficient reason, you fall into absurdism and contradiction. There's no truth as there's no sufficient reason deeming something true or false

And yes, thats the point, truth exists and thus we are conversing.

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

You cannot hold the belief that your knowledge is valid or invalid as you lack sufficient reason to hold it.

Wrong, I have evidence I have sensed with my senses and processed with my brain.

If you deny the principle of sufficient reason, you fall into absurdism and contradiction.

Can you demonstrate that?

There's no truth as there's no sufficient reason deeming something true or false

Wrong, there is evidence and we can repeatedly test it.

And yes, thats the point, truth exists and thus we are conversing.

Right. I believe you exist because you're here. I don't believe god exists because he's never been here.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
  1. How do you know the evidence is valid?
[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago

We can repeatedly test it and get consistent results.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
  1. Define "been here". God has always been by your side.
[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago

Nope, not even once.

If you can prove it, do so.

If you can't, shut the fuck up.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
  1. Falling into absurdism like "truth does not exist" or "knowledge does not exist", one of the examples is being unable to determine if your knowledge is valid or not
[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago

"truth does not exist" or "knowledge does not exist"

I never said that. You did.

I don't reject truth or knowledge. I do reject the principal of sufficient reason, because it's unproven bullshit.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

that's a sufficient reason, isn't it?

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No, that's empirical evidence. Not magic.

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

it, is a reason though, right?

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago

Evidence is a reason to believe what the evidence suggests, sure.

It's why no one should believe in god, there's no evidence, no reason.

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Another good question.

How do you know YOUR senses are valid?

The ones telling you there is a god?

[–] homosapien@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The principle of sufficient reason

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago

...is an assertion with no evidence.
