From a Marxist-Leninist perspective, what passes for the "woke left" today is neither Marxist nor truly leftist. It is a petty-bourgeois sideshow that actively harms the proletarian struggle. Here is the scientific diagnosis:

1. Petty-Bourgeois Idealism (Anti-Materialism) Marxism is grounded in the material base—the relations of production. The woke focus on language, pronouns, and individual consumption (virtue signaling) is subjective idealism. It operates on the false premise that changing vocabulary changes material exploitation. To an ML, social being determines consciousness—not the other way around. Debating tweets does not expropriate the bourgeoisie.

2. Left-Infantilism (Sectarian Adventurism) Drawing directly from Lenin’s "Left-Wing" Communism: An Infantile Disorder, this is textbook ultra-left sectarianism. Their purity tests and refusal to form broad, imperfect coalitions are not revolutionary principle; they are childish isolationism. Lenin warned that those who reject all compromise objectively help the bourgeoisie by splintering the working class and rendering it powerless.

3. The Alienated Intelligentsia (Class Character) Who comprises this movement? The petty-bourgeois intelligentsia—tech workers, academics, and media professionals. Unlike the proletariat, who must unite across identities to survive, this stratum enjoys relative material comfort but suffers from status anxiety. Their moral policing is a substitute for class struggle: a way to acquire revolutionary cachet without risking their class position or confronting capital.

4. Bourgeois Divisionism (Breaking Class Solidarity) This faction serves bourgeois hegemony by fracturing the working class along racial, gender, and cultural lines. By prioritizing identity over class solidarity, they destroy the only force capable of overthrowing capital. Their cancellations and witch-hunts are sectarian tailism—attacking fellow workers for incorrect thoughts while ignoring the capitalists who own the means of production.

5. Moralistic Substitutionism (Replacing Science with Morality) Instead of a scientific analysis of imperialism and exploitation, they offer Manichaean moralism—good vs. evil individuals. This is a regression to pre-Marxist utopian socialism. Their "hate" is not revolutionary discipline; it is petty-bourgeois terror—coercion without a vanguard party, which demobilizes the masses and hands ammunition to the reactionary right.

The Verdict: Subjectively radical, they are objectively reactionary. They are not the vanguard; they are a symptom of capitalist decay—a liberal pressure valve that allows the bourgeoisie to channel proletarian anger into endless interpersonal audits, rather than into the seizure of state power. The only moral purity that matters is class consciousness. The only unforgivable sin is abandoning the workers.
