In my family, "dribble" was an oft-used cutesy synonym for "drool". It reminds me of babies with food and saliva oozing down their chin. That wasn't explicitly my resistance to saying "Fribble" though; it just felt awkard and childish. We didn't have "cringey" as an adjective then - but in retrospect, cringey is how it felt.
