It's the Age of Self. There's no societal global problems, just happy individualism: surround yourself with good people, good food, do good workouts, listen to good podcasts etc. If you don't and feel depressed then, well, that's on you. You'll never get closer to enlightenment like this.
edit: I'm being deeply sarcastic. I know way too many people who really think like that. Of course that isn't me.
what is the point of sitting around feeling bad about problems over which you have no power or control? like, there is nothing you can do to change climate change as an individual. you can vote for green-energy pols, sure, but if they don't win they can't push it, and even if they do win, often they won't/don't push the agenda.
what you can do is contribute to your local community. join a garden, get some green, composts etc. but y'all here don't see to think that's 'doing something'. but i'd rather be outside off my phone contributing to the world than sitting in my bedroom doomscrolling feeling sorry for myself.
feeling sad about things also is not make you a moral or superior person to those who don't do that. that's ultimately a self-defeating weird flex that justifies your inaction and solipsism. because apparently laying in bed feeling feelings is like, so pround and deep and truth... and growing some tomatoes and hanging out with people is so horrible and bad...
almost like you all have psy oped yourselves into depression by deciding doing things is bad and sitting around doing nothing is good.
Ironic that you're acting superior to people for feeling shitty about the shitty state of the world and casting aspersions about them feeling superior about it.
I think it's completely understandable that people are despondent about the fact that every summer the air smells like carcinogens, and that we are being worked to the bone with little to no chance for advancement.
it's not acting superior, it's being superior.
if you want to get faster at running, you have practice running, a lot.
that's how everything in life is. if you want to improve something about yourself you have to practice that thing and learn it and gain skill and experience in it.
you can pretend that isn't true all you want, fine, but all you are doing is harming yourself and ensuring your failure at life. you can also make up absurd arguments, like why ever bother running at all if you aren't going to win a gold at the Olympics! which is PRECISELY the type of thinking every drugged out loser I ever known know makes.
nobody is working you to the bone who no change for advancement. that's a choice you are making yourself.
Ah the old pull yourself up by the bootstraps adage. You can go be superior, I'll be sympathetic with those who are suffering. Enjoy yelling at everyone from your ivory tower.
