They should say that the transition is going to take time, so check back on progress in mid-2029. By then, the next president can kill this incredibly stupid idea, without much damage being done, other than making no progress for a couple of years. That's better than negative progress.

Maybe by 2029 the US will even suffer a USSR style collapse, and the whole problem will go away entirely.
