Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

AntiX is "proudly antifascist," so unlikely to allow transphobia on their forums. It offers runit, sysVinit, dinit, s6-rc and s6-66 as its init systems. AntiX-core is the stripped-down system that lets you start from pretty close to scratch, so you get to mostly configure it yourself. It's based on Debian, and the sister distro of MXLinux, so it's guaranteed to work on older hardware. It's super lightweight and doesn't tax my Flex 2 (which isn't exactly powerful hardware)
