You stand a certain number of feet away from the fire I honestly forget how many, I think it's like four to six? But I would honestly be free balling it based on my best judgment at the time. Also the instructions are written on literally every fire extinguisher.
You're then supposed to make a sweeping motion and make sure to hit the core of the fire so the extinguishing media hits the burning material.
