Except when you think about if a ban were actually implemented it would absolutely be pro-entrenched companies like OpenAI and Anthropic and open weight models could be banned outright, I've already seen well-intentioned but misguided "experts" saying exactly that, BAN open weight models and pause further development, who would that benefit directly?
