Military assistance couldn't have done anything to stop the Bald Range fire devastation. The speed with which it grew was unbelievable. Nothing was going to stop that. Now that it has had a couple of days, it's more like other wildfires where the hot spots and active burn are all on the periphery, but in that first 12 hours it was like one giant inferno. The area has actually been incredibly lucky with the calm winds and weather cooling off, and the firefighters are thankfully back to fighting something that is still very large but also more normal as far as large wildfires go.
