Because he had the thought, "uhh why don't you ever about Spain during WW2?" Then he looked it up and started reading about Francisco Franco, then the Spanish Civil War, then the 1868 uprisings to overthrow Queen Isabella II, then King Amadeo I abdicated, which then lead to him wondering what the full trail was.
