Been trying to set up some Windows games from GOG.

Games launch just fine on Desktop Mode, but only seem to “work” if they’re in the background. If I have the system key pressed I can see the games loading or animations working properly, but the games are frozen when in Fullscreen or Windowed.

Tried swapping resolutions and running in Game mode, but it would continue to be hung in Desktop mode or stuck on the Steam logo when booting from Game Mode.

Also tried Proton Hotfix, Proton Experimental, and Proton 11.

Tried multiple games with no luck.

Other games purchased from Steam work just fine on both SSD and SD card.

I haven’t set Lutris up on my deck yet, but I think trying to run them via Lutris is the next step.

I’m also running SteamOS beta.

You'll probably have better luck with heroic, but for steam try these

  • running the game through game mode instead of desktop mode
  • disabling steam overlay for the game
  • setting the game to windowed or borderless window mode (either by changing a setting config file or pressing alt+enter while the game is running).

I’ve tried both 1 and 3, but will def try 2 as well.

Disabling Steam Overlay fixed it. Thanks!
