Edit /u/givesomefucks has now permanently banned two people from Mental Health, a supposed "safe space" in the last 3 hours. That seems odd for a community with an average 1 post per day. And that the other now banned account, /u/betterdeadthanreddit, was banned right after I called it out as being an alt of his along with /u/dingus in the comments here. I'd imagine the comment leading to that lifetime ban doesn't match whatever the comment said, and he's trying to hide that he has a bunch of alts modding a bunch of communities and banning users on this instance for no actual reason.

Hello, I'm relatively new to Lemmy and not sure how the instance administration works.

I spent around 3 hours writing up a long post for the Mental Health community detailing my personal history of symptoms, the issues I had with diagnosis, and the understanding of the root causes of AI that led me to realize what was causing my trouble with the medication I was on as well as why symptoms that were actually caused by ADHD had been diagnosed as Major Depressive Disorder or the like more than once.

Because the post got very long, I decided to break it into sections with headers and some bullets to make it easier to read.

The post had several replies that were all normal discussion on the issue, and violated no rules of Lemmy.world or that community. One of the two mods, presumably u/givesomefucks, removed the post without warning and listed the reason as "AI rambling about serious medication and how the doctors don’t know better."

I tried to message the two mods listed and got no response from either. Since I was in the middle of multiple conversations in the replies, I created a new post questioning deleting a long post in what they describe as a safe space to share and discuss mental health issues.

While continuing conversations in that new post, I got a popup that told me I was banned from the community. The reason they put in the modlog this time was "medical misinformation."

Both of those modlog entries are false. The first is an assumption they made at a glance. They then deleted that post based only on their assumption without bothering to read the post first.

The second is a blatant lie. There is nothing at all in either post that is medical misinformation. In the first post I even took the time to explain the various symptoms that can present depending on which neurotransmitter a person has a deficiency in the availability of as well as why my medication that targeted only one of those neurotransmitters was causing me to be tired even though it was a stimulant, and how a severe deficiency of both neurotransmitters can be diagnosed as depression since those symptoms aren't commonly associated with ADHD.

All of that information is accurate and all of that information can be verified.

In the second post, the one that I was banned from the community for, I had never even given medical information in the post. It was entirely calling them out for deleting a post without bothering to even read it in what they claim to be a mental health safe space.

The first post URL is: https://lemmy.world/post/50462838

and the second post is: https://lemmy.world/post/50461425

You'll note that one of the comments is a user saying that the entire lemmy.world instance isn't a safe place for any community.

The Mental Health community averages one single post per day. It's not a lot to ask of a moderator, and something they volunteered for. This is not how to grow a new communication platform.

It has now been 2 hours since my first post was deleted and 30 minutes since I was banned from the community. I have messages both moderators twice now, and neither of them has bothered to reply.

If the moderators of the lemmy.world Mental Health community are unable to keep up with that whole post per day by actually reading it and communicating with the poster if they see an issue, and they need to rely on removing posts based on blind assumptions and then instead of correcting their mistake doubling down by banning users based on complete lies then I volunteer to take over as moderator of that community.

Yes, but why would you put the burden of proof on the person accused of spreading medical misinformation, especially given the circumstances?

Wouldn't it be far simpler and more direct to expect that if a person is accused of something like that and banned for it the one doing the accusing and banning be able to point to specifically what they had an issue with, so that everyone can easily verify that specific thing is medical misinformation if they'd like?

Idk man, same reason you have to cite sources for your college papers.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It isn't a college paper. It isn't a research paper. It's a post on a social media platform, in a community for a specific topic, detailing my personal experiences with that topic.

Do you cite sources for every post and comment you make here? Who do you see doing that here?

[–] Zomg@piefed.world -2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

No, of course I don't. But when you say:

All of that information is accurate and all of that information can be verified.

And then push back when people ask you to explain, that makes you non-credible, and a likely explanation that the post got removed.

Either way, it seems like you can't be helped, I will not be responding further.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Your reasoning is backwards. You're saying my response to the mod's question over here, many hours after the fact, is what makes me suddenly non-credible and is a reason the post was deleted in the past.

You never were trying to help to begin with. You not responding again is a gift. Thank you.

[–] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I wouldn't trust either of the accounts responding to you. Their responses are bizarre and way too personally vested in your original post. Almost like alts of the original community's mod...

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

It's so weird. It's not normal behavior in general, but for a mod of the mental health community it's starting to remind me of the movie Stonehearst Asylum.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world -5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because it looks like AI, and nobody has time to trudge through all the AI drivel.

Many users read it and we were having several conversations in the replies. The only person who failed to bother reading it was the moderator /u/givesomefucks who deleted it because it was a long post had headers to help break it up and make it easier to read.

The community averages one single post per day. If a moderator is not capable of "trudging" through the one single post from the one single user posting in their community per day before deleting it, then they should not be moderating the community.

Doubling down when called out for removing a post without bothering to read it by banning the user for a falsified reason is also not the behavior of a person who should be running any group, much less one proclaiming it to be the safe space to discuss mental health issues here on Lemmy.World.
