It would be cool to collect but if you bought on vinyl then want to listen on the go then you're gonna need to get the album again in another medium.

Do people actually do that, as opposed to the alternatives? It seems like a lot of work when the digital files are easily available online.

Some do, I personally just DL my "backups" from slsk. Most new prod records do also come with a code for the digital version for this exact reason, though. Older ones of course do not.
