  • cereal made by Kellog then packed with sugar post ww2 due to huge sugar surplus then sold directly to kids and convinced everyone that it was good for you somehow. The Vietnamese eat Pho for breakfast which is why they won the Vietnam war.
  • The low fat craze convincing everyone that unsaturated fats are bad and putting sweetners in everything
  • dairy industry convincing everyone to drink milk even though adults dont need milk and large portions of the population are lack toes intolerant
  • the food pyramid that put wheat and corn into everything and continues to do so making my coeliac ass life very difficult
  • italian food isn’t even real
  • contemporary protein craze to sell cheese creating waste product and probably combat vegans by making raw meat eaters filled with worms

Any others im missing?

My bad i always get them mixed up i should have checked. I remember the low fat craze being about reducing all fat rather than just saturated and then packing everything with sweetners instead to make processed food more appealing when its just shit

I often hear the thing about low-fat products replacing fat with sugar, but what kind of products does that work for? if you reduce the fat and add sugar, the product will become sweet when it wasn't before. i guess it's possible for junk like cookies and ice cream that can be fat-heavy and already have sugar, replace some of the fat with even more sugar?

anyway my psyop is soy. most people realised the "soy is estrogen" myth is pure BS, but somehow it had huge residual effects where soy got a rep for being generally "unhealthy". this made shops give more shelf space to inferior milks like oat and rice, and expensive bougie (and more environmentally destructive) milks like almond and macadamia, and the superior milk, good old soy, got put aside. vegan protein powders in the west are now mostly made from peas (which is fine, but soy has a higher protein content so why not use the superior bean). soy is pretty much a superfood and the meat lobby successfully made the very name sound unhealthy
