Also, I always wondered, do most people in China, Vietnam and other socialist countries identify as communist?

On the latter question, the people i know dont think about government on a socialist/capitalist scale at all. (Be it chinese immigrants to america, or vietnamese (well moreso south east asia) immigrants). They only see the government on what values they hold, and whether theyd do something about it.

To elaborate, when immigrating, outside of Cambodians who fled due to the Khmer* Rogue due to that being kinda fucked, mamy of the immigrants came for new life, and not the idea of escaping government. Some of the earliest immigrants likely have based on their region (e.g Hmong, and Cambodians were likely to have fled due to politics) most other groups were less often due to that.
