Because the British press only cares about things happening outside of London if it is either:

  1. Really fucked up
  2. Related somehow to London.

Was this last month? The article is date from 20 July 2026 but other mention I found are from last year. I find article on the same topic from a year ago almost world for world the same for the few recent articles. Is this the second year it happened?

Yes, and it was the biggest wildfire in recent memory. Whole of Salsbury Crags caught fire. Burnt for a couple of days. It was bigger than last year's fires. We once had a fire in February.
