And from what I've seen, the jumper kits that comes with modern cars are marked with numbers on which ones you should put on first.

Yeah, I don't see it as intimate. Trickle charging is like donating blood. Using the donor's alternator is like CPR before the other car's rushed off to the auto store for an emergency transplant.
