Farther down the article there's this:

Her death comes weeks after that of Jemma Stapleton, a 25-year-old Australian sprinter who died in June in a road accident while on holiday on the Thai island of Koh Samui. There is no indication the two are linked.

That they didn't list a cause, and then mentioned another athlete and made a point that they're not connected...
