They love hurting "those" people because their narcissism and myopia does not allow them to consider they they or someone they care about will eventually be in an "other" group. It aligns well with radical religions that claims winners and losers deserve their life's lot.

There's no "someone they care about" when it comes to others. Elon Musk has a trans kid. Ted Cruz has a bi kid. They haven't changed their positions in light of their own kids' lives.
