I was interested in finding out why Ford signed such a good contract with Canadian autoworkers. What I found wasn't what I expected. But I do think it we can have something like a win-win if the country brings in Chinese EVs. Look at the numbers in my article and tell me what you think---.

I live in one of the most bike friendly cities in Canada. Mild winters and generally mild summers. Good infrastructure that's getting better. And yet there are still so many people who say "oh I could never because", and then follow with things they do that people who choose to bike also do. Many people who think it's not feasible in their life have never tried. That's not to say it's feasible every day and in all circumstances but more than many people think.

Right, so, in other words, you're in the exceptionally rate situation in Canada where it is doable. Cool. I'm not, most people here are not either. We don't have stats on which people castle88 thinks are naughty lazy ne're-do-wells, we have income, cost of living, average and median commute times, and infrastructure development decisions. They do not tell us that most people who choose to not use cargo bikes are doing so because they're simply not open to something new, but they do tell us that it is a privilege to even have it as an option (not one of you so far has mentioned how fucking expensive these things are, let alone what level of income your community has to have access to for the infrastructure to exist).

You guys on this thread are more concerned with the morality of individual choice and showing off your amazingly virtuous initiative than you are about why most people here do not live under the conditions where this is doable. Ffs, driving is becoming prohibitively expensive for many people in this country, and they aren't going to have cargo bikes as an alternative when they're already diriving 40+ minutes a day just to get to and from work. No, consuming product isn't really a viable option to meet these systemic failures.
