Well certainly less than the Romans did.
apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
Exactly as much as he's done for us long ago.
Provide convenient excuses for everything, from collecting alms to genocidal intercontinental warfare, you name it, god can be used as a pretext.
That's not for US, though, that's for others against us..
I was mostly referencing the crusades, but it's there, everywhere.
