Firefox + uBlock.
Also Morphe/ReVanced.
Can you do this from an iPhone?
Yes. The Orion browser on iOS supports both Firefox and chrome plugins.
You can use an android phone and block all the ads. This is what deterred me from iPhone last time. Greyjay, pipepipe, etc. No ads. Plus uBlock for Firefox. Among other huge advantages.
Adguard on iPhone does that, as with android it sets up as a VPN and blocks adds in all apps.
Does not work for youtube
Youtube in browser is what I care I'm not gonna download the app
Last I used iPhone it was simply not possible to block ads. Super annoying.
I’ve been using Firefox Focus to block ads, including YouTube video ads, for almost a decade on iOS lawl
Weird. I think the last time I tried was circa 2020 iPhone xr and yes, I always use Firefox focus if available. Don't recall it blocking YouTube ads ornahving addon capabilities.
Androids always been more flexible.
Also heard of https://github.com/fer0n/Unwatched but already switched back to Android before I got chance to try it out.
Really surprised that this is readily available on the app store, tried it out for a bit and it seems to be working. Didn't sign in yet but it looks pretty safe.
Thanks for the heads up.
Yeah, I was surprised as well. I believe most of these kind of apps get around it by advertising as a RSS Reader or generic Mediathek. But from the Screenshots its hard to mistake it for something other than a YT Client. Guess Apple does dont care about it as much as Google would.
If it works maybe we should keep it on the down low. Also only heard of it by chance.
Ublock origin is available as a safari extension now :)

You can also use Firefox focus browser, or Unwatched app.
