Hold on a second, I remember these things being sold a couple of years ago... The only difference was that they were marketed towards gamers so you could scream slurs without mother taking away your Good-Boy-Points™️

That's about four times less loud or enough to turn yelling into a conversational volume. It's not perfection, but 20dB is nothing to sneeze at.
That's the maximum reduction at the peak frequency when fitted perfectly. Their numbers, not independent testing

That's very likely true, but that's not the comment I was responding to. I only took issue with you saying that 20dB wasn't much. You didn't have any of that other information in your comment.
Ok honestly if it works this sounds great for me in my house while my wife sleeps for her Saturday or Sunday shifts. I am obnoxiously loud and love playing games and bullshitting with friends on those nights. I have kept her up and few nights before. But if this even has 1/2 of the dampening power, that’s amazing.
Sounds like a skill issue. 😒
