Fair point! Though it does feel a bit like sinking a billionaires yacht, Yeah they are hurt but now the ocean is polluted. And they still have infinite money.

You keep tilting at those windmills, Don. You'll get them eventually! So long as the 'monstrous giants' don't interfere, of course.

You have any idea how much damage ai is doing to the planet? Probably not cause you sound like an insufferable cunt.

I do, actually. More than some things, less than others. Just like nearly everything else. It's not as bad as golf courses, when it comes to water usage - and especially not when comparing water pollution, golf courses are so much worse due to the pesticides and herbicides.

Not as much electricity as all the combined servers and individual clients of video games. Less than is used to light all the Christmas lights at all major cities for the season in which they're lit.

Unlike you, I don't resort to ad hominems, as facts stand on their own without needing insults to bolster them. As a fact, though, you sound like an ignorant bandwagoner who read too many articles meant to induce panic and now believe the sky will fall as a result of running different software on hardware we already had.

I suspect this is a result of your conflating data centers and artificial intelligence. You do know there's a difference, right? You can use AI with zero damage to the planet. I do daily; using the same GPU I use for gaming (for a fraction of the electricity of actual gaming) and powered by a solar array. It's less harmful to the planet than turning on my stove to cook a meal.

Well I stand by the insufferable cunt bit. As for ai, I am fucking sick of seeing it fucking everywhere. All the sloppy posters, flyers, freakin photos for funerals that I have to print made by ai. Everytime there's an update to software just to add more ai function that nobody asked for and bloats up the place cause they need to justify the unimaginable money they throw in this pitt of despare called ai. People relying on ai to think for them. The next generations are gonna be too dumb to think for themselves cause they are stuck to their slopmachines thinking for them. Nobody will be able to think for themselves. Can't wait for kids tone taught by ai that's set up by techbros. I had someone ask ai what color frame they should pick, like they couldn't fucking think for themselves WHAT COLOR THEY LIKE.
If this continues ai will just feed on itself turning everything in generic garbage. And everyone will be thinking the same. And all this is without even mentioning all the data center bullshit that makes everything worse in general.

You do you, buddy. You sound like you have a lot of frustration in your life, and AI is the easiest target. I spoke out against your punching bag, and now I've drawn your ire, which comes with complimentary insults. Cool beans.

There's a reason why people "rely" on AI. It's truly insightful, with a shocking aptitude for inference. I, myself, have used it to pick a color, but not because "I didn't know what color I like" but because I know that there are considerations to choosing a color for psychological and practical reasons, and while I don't know all those reasons, nor want to expend my time learning them (and being unsure if I learned them all) I can instead allow AI to utilize it's omniscience to make those considerations.

So, for example, when I asked it what colors to use for my basement, and provided a picture of the existing color scheme, it was able to find something that looked like it belonged perfectly, while also taking into account that the basement has a low ceiling, so I want to incorporate vertical stripes to make the space seem larger than it actually is. That's not something I would have naturally thought of, so that's useful and appreciated. It doesn't atrophy my brain to acknowledge the insight afforded by an encyclopedic mind is beneficial to my selection, and I spent far less time than I would have in hunting down articles about the best way to choose colors for cramped sub-surface locations.

AI isn't going anywhere, sorry, person-who-thinks-I'm-an-insufferable-cunt, so you might as well benefit from it rather than being the crying toddler having a meltdown in the food court of a mall because he's upset the radio overplays a song that he doesn't like.

Turn your frown upside down. You can do it! I believe in you!
