Looks sick!

I appreciate fan games tons, but if you and your small team of Megamen superfans are talented enough to make a whole game, why not just make your own IP inspired by Megaman? Capcom isn't Nintendo and probably won't send out a cease and desist, but how many amazing passion projects have turned to dust this way. I suppose using existing IP might give you more exposure, but it may also lead to a couple dudes in suits knocking on your door to force you to knock off your undertaking.

Sometimes, it’s about the love of the franchise. Also look at palworld 😂

Damned if you do…

But I grew up with megaman. If it was another character and enemy set I wouldn’t care at all to be honest.

Maybe be it has something to do with the existing engine? It’s hard to tell from the trailer how much existing stuff they used and from which game but it looks like they have custom music, graphics, art, and some mechanics.

My point is, maybe it’s harder to start from scratch, I dunno I don’t make games.

I agree. There are so many amazing fan games that could potentially succeed using original IP. These projects probably can't get any funding, since they're using existing IP. The moment you make money off of it, that's when trouble begins. I've paid for Azure Striker Gunvolt, Gravity Circuit, Berserk Boy, 20XX and 30XX. I would definitely pay for another well done game inspired by Mega Man 😁

Kind of like what Inti Creates does. Though I think that studio might actually have some people who originally worked at Capcom

It was founded by ex Capcom staff, so there's probably some still left there.
