These Nazis have no idea just how despicable and evil they truly are. They are under the illusion they are the good guys.
They do not think they are the good guys, they genuinely relesh in their evil. They want to be grand moff Tarkin blowing up Alderean. They want to be Darth Vader force choking anyone that bothers them.
