I grew up directly at the highest traffic hotspot in the whole country, at the first traffic light after the highway, 200000+ daily cars and lots of heavy traffic. Both my parents were smokers. The outside of our windows were turning black of exhaust quickly, regardless of how often they were cleaned. Makes me wonder if my issues with all kinds of addictive behavior (Food/Nicotine/Weed/Opiates/Alcohol - all outside of nicotine and my opiate substitution not active, but always there) aren't connected to those facts. Both my siblings are struggling with addictive behavior too.

Edit: In retrospect, nearly everyone that i knew there growing up had issues with addiction - that was what made me leave the whole area in my early 20s. Might have been some social factors too, since it was a low income area, but a near 100% addiction rate of the people i knew there is pretty sus.
