This reminds me of the time I was talking to a coworker about Palestine and I used the word genocide. He replied with "Well they did a genocide against us, right? On 9/11." He meant Muslims in general and somehow didn't know nor care about the particulars. Out of every current brainworm I think I get sickened the most by Islamophobia. Probably because it was the first bigotry I really noticed since I started getting politically minded around the Iraq War, so it stuck to me.
Islamophobics truly do believe all Arab people are like a hive minded mushroom colony rather than human beings. They often don't even acknowledge that Arab children exist, all Arabs are seen as either enemy combatants or oppressed women who are better off dead than being a Muslim. They're so mentally lazy that they can't even fathom that there are Arabs who aren't Muslim, or Muslims who aren't Arab.
He thinks Palestinians did 9/11? And he thinks 9/11 is a genocide? Americans get bombed fucking once and it's eternal genocide on the rest of the world I stg. 9/11 was bad but compared to like, an actual homewar like the bombings of London it was fucking nothing.
He thinks all Muslims comprise a global coordinated movement and are all the same. So since the majority of Palestinians are Muslim, he sees no difference
I don’t know if most people know what the word genocide means. In the general vernacular I think it’s used to refer to an attack that kills more people than can be counted on your fingers and toes.
