They literally say in the post their main motive for dating in the workplace is career advancement and door opening. Thats not dating anymore thats basically a job. If you want to treat your love life as a carreer knock your socks off but the vast majority of people have more personal motives for dating and love making than climbing the corporate ladder.
Sorry where does it literally say its their main motive?
That explains why this person dates at work, it doesn't say their main motive for dating at work is to climb the corporate ladder.
What do you think "because" means?
"I poo at work because I get paid for it".
That doesn't mean my primary motivation for pooing is getting paid.
Except that interpretation falls apart with the prefatory "not because" clause.
"I ___, not because ___. Because ___" is an explicit clarification of intention or motivation. "I poo at work, not because I have poo inside me that needs to be expelled. Because it's a way to get paid for not actually doing work" is a more accurate analogy.
Sure, but is it a clarification of intention or motivation for dating, or for dating at work.
I poo because I have poo inside me that needs to be excreted. I poo at work because I get paid for not actually doing work.
There's lots of benefits to dating - companionship, entertainment, engagement, sex, and so on. In some cultural settings in some demographics it's an expectation that single people will be dating. This post isn't explaining why she dates, but why she dates at work.
See that's the thing, any interpretation is possible if you just ignore the explicit context.
The explicit context being... someone explaining why they date at work.
Yes. And that explanation being that it's more effective than other methods of getting promoted. That's the reason why.
Yes, that's the reason why they date at work, rather than going home with randos at bars. I'm curious as to why that bothers you so much?
Nope, not how English works. Quit trolling bud.
Everyone, stop feeding the troll
I'm not trolling.
I'm genuinely surprised that the fediverse is so sexually constrained.
As I've said elsewhere in this thread. People date people for all sorts of devious, manipulative reasons, and the majority of those reasons are born of self interest. When selecting a desirable partner, we're hard wired to desire partners who can provide social stability.
