I've heard that might mean the food dish is too narrow and/or deep and the cat's whiskers keep brushing against the bowl's walls while eating. The whiskers being extremely sensitive, I can see why that would affect its food habits.
I don't know. My cat acts like that but the bowl is pretty shallow but has a good amount of food still in it. I think most of the time it's just cats catting.
Could be that, too. There's a reason we don't have a lot of research done about cats.
