You're more right than most people realize. The Oachita and Appalachian mountains were once part of the same mountain range, along with the Scottish Highlands iirc. You're definitely right about that being a very old fossil if it is a fossil and if you found it in the Oachitas.

Yessir! I don't get up it much, but had some family visiting so I was taking them to all the tourist spots.
