Yep. And I'm sure you have some implications about my intelligence as a result of being an American but let me just go ahead and jump right out there and tell you, I'm not the one complaining about how hard it is to read plain english.
I'm not saying it's hard to read plain English. I'm saying that when an American says "I was at McDonalds" apparently he means "I was in the McDonalds Drive Thru" because Americans are car-brained.
What I'm telling you, in plain english, which you seem to be having trouble understanding even now, is that reading at a second grade level is when you start to learn about context clues in writing like someone honking at you in line at a fastfood restaurant, is the indicator that you are in the drive thru. It isn't implied by being in line at the fast food place. It's implied by the additional context of being honked at.
I'm telling you that if you're not car-brained the phrase "I was just at McDonalds" means "I was inside the McDonalds fast food restaurant".
Is your reading comprehension enough to get that?
I fully understand what you are saying. And had they said nothing about a car honking, I would have assumed they were inside the McDonald's. Because I understand that when reading, you have to take the whole context of the message. I feel bad for you that you find it inconvenient or cumbersome that you have to "context switch" when reading. That just comes naturally to most people who can read at a basic level.
Though I guess I don't feel too bad as I presume you're a fairly intelligent individual who made a pretty low effort attempt to bash "Americans" because that's on trend right now. You should try a little harder than attacking a pretty normal English paragraph. Maybe next time you won't come off as someone who struggles with grade 2 level reading.
