They didn't really do zero-carb - the bacon they bought was sugar bacon. Secret sugars got into his protocol, i wish he would have used a ketomojo or a cgm to track.
Sean O'Mara's "living" carnivore diet is just mixing and matching health trends, his focus on a probiotic protocol is just based on guesses and assumptions. I suppose it does differentiate him from the "clean" carnivore approaches, but i'm not sure it actually helps people get results.
fermentation doesn't cure - lectins, oxalates, etc.... so if that is why someone is trying a elimination diet this protocol will waste their time
16:30 - he indicates the Harvard TH Chan school of public health is his trusted authority, that does inform into the biases he has during the video.
He throws out ground beef because it sat in his car for 2 hours... what on earth is he thinking? ground beef doesn't go bad that quickly!
ok, at the end of 30 days he lost 3% of his body weight - which sound just like water weight, he had minimal ketones detected in his urine (urine strips are not super helpful to measure ketones), from what he showed of his diet it had sneaky sugar inside of it, plus not super high fat. It sounded like he had a calorie goal since the start of the 30 day period and had trouble "finishing" his meals in the eating window. He did say he felt like he was losing weight (and implied clothes were looser)
So the question is why did he only see a 3% change in body weight? Why did he feel low energy?
He wasn't clear about his calories, or his macro composition, but I would suspect either the fat was too low or not enough electrolytes. His below expectations weight loss might be the fact he was force feeding himself to hit his calorie goals rather then letting his hunger guide him. It's possible his body really was recomposing, so he lost fat, but gained muscle (hence why his pants felt looser), but he didn't record that data. (i.e. following the hyper-caloric feeding case series)
I really wish he had used a sensible guide to carnivore rather than the "living carnivore" model, too many variables at play - hardly a elimination diet at all.

When dave feldman did that plant based vs carnivore corss over 8 years ago, all the bells and whistles came out in terms of data collection, and that was for a 5k youtube channel.... we could have had so much more
Can't assess weight loss without knowing physical activity. Fad diets suck.
you can lose weight with zero physical activity. This is the crux of the carbohydrate insulin model of obesity.
of course physical activity is good, and should be part of any exercise program but it isn't necessary.
Most of us want to lose weight to improve our health and appearance. So I'd say exercise complements a healthy diet.
