For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Been checking on your comments, what’s your end goal? I think you need to reflect on yourself and think about many other useful stuff that you could to instead trying to convince people musk is not a deranged nazi but just a silly man makes silly gestures.

You say he’s a useless person, but yet you’re still trying to argue with people (which all due respect, this is literally defending him)

I know you are not a bad person but current social media has trained all us to be aggressive and unwilling agent of provocateurs. A “useful idiot” in another way of saying. Please, take a deep breath and put your phone aside. Reflect for a moment what are current affairs making you to do. You’re arguing with the people that you already agree with.

Be nice

What's my end goal? I don't know, kill some time while automated tests run at work? Are you telling me you get on internet forums because you have some kind of end goal other than, "I'm bored"?

I did reflect on myself, and I realized that I'm not ok with lies. Even if the lie doesn't make someone I dislike look bad, it's still not OK to lie. It's also not OK to sit around and see people spreading lies and not say anything. Yeah, I guess that does mean that sometimes I'll have to defend bad people and people I don't like, but that's OK too. If the person in question is really a bad person I won't need to lie to make them look bad, the truth will make them look bad; and unlike lies, the truth cannot be denied

Here are the facts. It's all on video, there's no questioning it. This is what happened.

Elon is on stage at a Republican rally telling them that the election was important and that he's happy they made the right choice and voted for Trump. He's thanking them for making this choice. He grabs his heart with his hand, open palm on chest gripping his shirt tightly, he waves to the audience in front of him. He turns around to the people behind him and he does this again. He continues speaking, at which point he says something like, "and I mean it from my heart"

Does it look exactly like the Nazi Salute? Yes; and that's what makes it so funny. It's a hilariously stupid Faux Pas at probably the worst time, but was he actually standing on stage and praising Hitler? No.

It's just that simple. I'm not going to ignore that my eyeballs can see him gripping his heart and I'm not going to ignore that my ears can hear him say "and I mean it from the bottom of my heart".

I'm not going to lie about what happened. I heard what he said, I saw him grab his heart.

If you're mad at me for not going along with your lie, then eat shit, I'm not going to be nice to a bunch of people trying to spread misinformation.
