More people in the ocean than I expected. I guess they would like oranges more though.

Gotta stave off scurvy, though lemons and limes are more effective.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 weeks ago

Fun fact: the British Navy used to keep lime trees on board which is why British people are called limeys.

I think Marianas oranges taste the best, but submarine harvesting makes them prohibitively expensive.

Yeah nah, oranges are easily grown in Australia.

Going to plant an orange tree in my backyard this year.

Then I’ll have oranges, apples, lemons, peaches, cherries and figs

all from one tree? that's impressive!

[–] Schmoo@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

I know you're joking but it would actually be possible to have oranges and lemons on the same tree.

Hmm, I don't know. I'm gonna need a non-Mercator version to make up my mind about this.

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Real projections: mercator, globe

Mental illnesses: all the others

[–] michaelnik@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

South Africa too

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago

why have you put me on the first map? I don't like orange juice

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

Citrus fruits have been grown as far north as the UK for 100s of years and climate change is making that even easier.

[–] Dagnet@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Brazil has a ton of orange production tho

[–] barryamelton@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

It's missing Mediterranean countries, Spain is quite full of orange trees too
