Welcome to "You Don't Matter, Give Up."

This community is inspired by the concept of text that conveys opposite messages when read in a different manner. While it shares similarities with !dontdeadopeninside@lemmy.ohaa.xyz and !nosafetysmokingfirst@sh.itjust.works in that all of these play with the idea of misreading text, YDMGU specifically focuses on phrases that can be read in both directions, with each interpretation being valid and opposites of each other.

Important Note: This community is not a place for discussions about suicide or self-harm. If you or someone you know is struggling with these feelings, we urge you to seek help. Please visit !suicidewatch@lemm.ee or reach out to appropriate resources for support. You matter, don't give up.

Rules

  1. Stay On-Topic: All posts should relate to the theme of YDMGU-style text. Content should convey antagonistic messages when read in different directions.

  2. Be Respectful: All members should treat each other with respect. Harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks will not be tolerated.

  3. Quality Content: Strive for creativity and originality in your posts. Low-effort or repetitive content may be removed.

  4. No Misinformation: Ensure that any messages or themes shared are not misleading or harmful. The intent should be to uplift, even if the wording is ironic.

  5. No Spam or Self-Promotion: Avoid posting spam or excessive self-promotion. This includes unrelated content or links that do not fit the community’s theme.

  6. No Rule Lawyering: Moderators have the final say in all decisions regarding content and rule enforcement. If you disagree with a moderator's decision, you are welcome to discuss it in !yepowertrippingbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com.

Stupid word positioning aside; the message is "Do whatever you want, God will stop you if you're not supposed to. If don't get stopped God willed it."

What a way to live, assuming all your actions are divinely ordained otherwise you couldn't do them. I don't really understand how that thought can be consistent with the concept of sin though...

Anyway, I shouldn't try to bring logic into religion.

Meh they know it ain't like that, as with alot of religious folks their narcissism is the primary motivator, the religious text is the excuse

God's grace keeps murderers & rapist where they are (in a position of power), bless them.

Deus sure can vult a lot of bullshit through the ~~asses~~ mouths of (semi?)religious propaganda.

I read this as entirely the opposite. Something along the lines of "God won't put you into bad situations you can't make it through". Similar to "If you're going through hell, keep going"

The kind of small comforts Christians tend to seek out when dealing with major hardships in life, like loved ones passing away. "Why would God put me through this?" Because if you have faith he'll take you through and out the other side.

These people know nothing of actual religion. They just use it as a shield.

It's more logically consistent than anything else I've heard. God created the universe knowing every action that would be taken with that particular setup. He chose that one though, so it must be the one that caused everything he wanted. He could have chosen from literally an infinite number of possible options, and he can always change the starting conditions to create any result, so whatever happens he knew was going to happen.

Those same people who believe he had this power will say something about free will. However, he isn't omniscient if he doesn't know which choice you will freely make, and set things up so you'll make the choice he wants. It just doesn't make sense.
