1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of “discuss” rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This isn't an advice forum

Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with “So” - starting a post with pointless phrases, like “I hope this is allowed” or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

I like staplers. I have a decent collection. Ace Fastener in particular is my favorite manufacturer. And while the Pilot is my absolute favorite, I have been hunting for an Aceliner 502 with the faux wood finish for quite some time. There are certain things I collect that I only look for in person. Staplers are one of these things. I get enjoyment from the hunt. I've found Aceliners in black several times, but have been holding out for the faux wood. It reminds me of elementary school. It can staple, pin, and tack. Pinning is where the staples are flared outwards instead of inwards. It's meant to be temporary and more easily removable. Let me know if you want some examples. And tacking is where you can open the stapler up and staple to, say, a bulletin board.

I found this one at a flea market yesterday! Along with a Shakespeare Criterion 1960 fishing reel. The chrome on both is in fantastic condition. I'll probably post the reel once I get it all cleaned up. If anybody wants to see it all dirty, then disassembled, then shiny and reassembled.

Thank you! I would say something to avoid is staplers that use proprietary staples. The Ace Scout. Markwell staplers. The Duo-Fast pocket stapler. You're going to want something usable. I have one by the Boston Wire Stitching Comany (later Bostitch) from the 1920's that can still use standard staples, so for the most part you're not going to have a problem.

Something to look for is probably that the pusher slides easily, and that thr tension spring still has good tension. And that the blade isn't bent out away from the staple support, or it's going to jam. Have fun hunting!

Thanks for the detailed response! It’s a world I didn’t even know existed until I saw your post. I’m currently in a coffee hyperfocus but maybe when that subsides I’ll look more into staplers, despite not really needing to use them much. My wife is gonna kill me.
