For all those responding in bad faith, asking what the problem is - As I recall, these were some of the main points:

  • trump used millions in tax payer money and didn't fix any actual issues. All this unnecessary work while trump says we can't afford Medicare or childcare and spends billions on a war he started unilaterally.

  • used to be granite/marble floor, meant to reflect monument best

  • further, was meant to reflect reality that can be "murky" and not just give a fake, polished, happy facsimile. So not being bright blue and shiny was part of the point

  • gave a no bid, kickback contract to his own "personal pool guy" who will likely funnel millions back to trump

  • as always, does this with no review, oversight traditionally key to touching our monuments using our taxpayer money

  • painted a more premium non-painted surface that will now red to constantly be repainted as it's exposed to harsh conditions outside
